Wilber F. Newman, 71, Menahsa Avenue, Manitowoc, died Monday evening at a Manitowoc hospital.

Newman was born May 22, 1905 at Cooperstown, son of the late Thomas and Catherine Kane Newman. He married Leona Herrmann on Nov. 24, 1926. He was employed as an iron worker until his retirement in 1970.

Surviving are his wife, two sons, James of Rt. 2, Sheboygan Falls and Michael of Manitowoc; two daughters, Mrs. Roman (Bernice) Schneider of Rt. 1, Newton and Mfrs. Arlette Goessl of Manitowoc; a brother, Hilbert, of Rt. 1, Denmark; a sister, Mrs. Susan Staudinger of Stanley, Wis.; 13 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Two brothers, a sister and a granddaughter preceded him in death.

The funeral is this Thursday morning at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc, with the Rev. Leo J. Schmitt officiating and burial in St. Anne Cemetery, Francis Creek.

The Pfeffer Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
