MATHIAS I. REIF
(1878 - 1949)

Mathias Reif, 71, Town of Kossuth farmer, died early today at his home about two miles west of Francis Creek following a brief illness.

The body will be taken from the Pfeffer funeral home to the Reif residence Friday morning where it may be viewed until 9 a.m. Saturday when it will be removed to the St. Ann Catholic Church in Francis Creek for the funeral mass to be celebrated by the Rev. Joseph Rauch at 9:30. Burial will take place in the St. Ann cemetery.

Born on the home farm in 1878, Mr. Reif had continued to reside there and was still active in the operation of the farm up until the time of his recent illness. In 1905, he married the former Rose Hutterer who survives him along with three sons, six daughters and 17 grandchildren.

The surviving sons are Wilbur of Francis Creek, and Edwin and Robert at home. The daughters include Mrs. Donald Shaw and Mrs. Victor Doyle of Manitowoc, Miss Marie at home, Mrs. Edward Neuser of Green Bay, Mrs. Clarence Kubsch, and Miss Arlette, both of Two Rivers. Also surviving are a brother, Frank Reif, of route 2, Manitowoc, and two sisters, Miss Lena Reif of Manitowoc and Mrs. Frances McGrath of Milwaukee.

Mr. Reif was a member of the St. Ann Holy Name society, the members of which will recite the rosary following devotions at the church Friday evening.
