C. Richard Wagner, age 59, of Green Bay, died Thursday, January 15, 1998, in a local nursing home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Sunday, January 18, 1998, at 4 p.m. at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 312 Victoria St., with Rev. Larry Canavera Officiating. Burial will be in the St. Anne Cemetery, Francis Creek.

Richard was born June 7, 1938, in Manitowoc to Arthur and Marian (Nachtwey) Wagner. He attended St. Lawrence Seminary and graduated in 1958. Richard then served ni the United Army Reserve for six years. He married the former Barbara Evenson on March 16, 1968, in Cooperstown. He owned and operated several taverns in Manitowoc County before moving to Green Bay, where he was instrumental in forming the Teens Education to Prevent AIDS (TEPA). Richard was a member of St. Philip the Apostle Parish.

Survivors include one son, Michael Wagner, Green Bay; one daughter, Michele Wagner, and her special friend Paul Smith, both of Green Bay; one grandson, Nicholas; one brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Karin Wagner, Francis Creek; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Rita and Don Kohlbeck, Manitowoc, Judy and Lee Cookle, Mequon, and Joyce and Richard Katzka, Francis Creek, along with nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church Sunday from 1 p.m. until the time of services at 4 p.m.

Proko-Wall Funeral Home is assisting the family.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund has been established for HIV AIDS education in his name.

Richard’s family wishes to express a sincere thank you to Unity Hospice and the nurses and staff of Manor Care East for all the care and consideration given to Richard and his family.
