John C. Zucchi, Sr., 78, of Rockwood, Route 2, Manitowoc, died early Friday evening, Dec. 24, at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc.

Funeral services will be 9:45 a.m. Tuesday at Parkside Funeral Home, Manitowoc, and 10:30 a.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church, Francis Creek. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. James P. Massart and burial will be in St. Anne Cemetery, Francis Creek.

Mr. Zucchi was born May 18, 1904, at Caltrana, Italy, son of the late Juseppe and Rosa Zucchi. He came to the United States at the age of 16 and lived at Quarry, Wis., where he worked for Standard Lime Company. He married Alvira Tagliapietra Sept. 29, 1928, at St. Gregory Catholic Church, St. Nazianz. In 1936 they moved to Rockwood, where Mr. Zucchi worked for Allwood Lime Company which in 1949 was purchased by and became known as Rockwell Lime Company. He was a licensed driller and blaster for the company until his retirement in 1971. He was an avid hunter and gardener. Mr. Zucchi was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church, Francis Creek.

Survivors include his wife, Alvira; three sons and daughters-in-law, John and Marilyn Zucchi Jr. of Rockwood, Jerome and Shelby Zucchi of Dwight, Ill., and Kenneth and Mary Zucchi of Manitowoc; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Jane and Donald Mleziva of Whitelaw; two brothers, and sisters-in-law, Sylvio and Nena Zucchi of Caltrano, Italy and Tony and Mary Zucchi of Rockwood; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Mrs. Nanna Antonelli of Chlupano, Italy and Amilia and Tony Dal’Ferro of Upper Darby, Pa., 11 grandchildren, three great grandchildren, 30 nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

Friends may call at Parkside Funeral Home 4 o’clock to 9 o’clock this Monday afternoon. A prayer service will be at 8 o’clock Monday evening, led by Father Massart.
