William was the son of Henry Balke and Sophia Gebhart. On 26 Oct 1910 he married Amelia Kaiser. She died in 1915 and about 1916 he married Catherine Stickler and they had four children: Evelyn, Dorothy, Joseph and Frederick. At the time of his death he was a construction foreman for the Highland Construction Co. William died of a coronary occlusion at the age of 59.
