Dorothy Frances (Smith) O'Connor, 99, of Plymouth, a long-time resident of Sandwich passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2015. She was the wife of the late Thomas O'Connor.
Born in Liverpool, England, a daughter of the late William and Margaret (Jack) Smith.
Dorothy had worked as a librarian in Newton and Sandwich for many years. She was also a dedicated volunteer for various programs.
She is survived by 2 sons, Michael O'Connor of Sandwich and Thomas and his wife Jean of Northborough; 4 grandchildren, Brendan O'Connor, Kerry Hooper, Katy Neefus, Justin O'Connor, 6 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the grandmother of the late Ryan O'Connor and sister of the late Peg Hepke, May George and Norman Smith.
The family would especially like to acknowledge the wonderful companionship and care provided by Dorothy's niece Joanne Meeks, her primary care-giver and friend.
Her Funeral Service will be held at 11a.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home 40 MacArthur Blvd. Interment in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Beacon Hospice, 32 Resnik Road Suite 3, Plymouth, MA 02360.
