William married Minnie Schempf in Pana, IL January 14 1897. They had 3 children: Henry James, Fred, and Irene. She preceded him in death in 1929.
William later married Cora Irene (nee Nance) Nation.

William Tait, 80, Claimed By Death After Brief Illness
William Tait, 80, 2618 South College street, died at 8:05 a.m. yesterday in St. John's hospital. He entered the hospital June 8 as a medical patient.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Cora Elizabeth; two sons, Henry of Pana, and Fred, of Paris, Ill.; one daughter, Mrs. Irene Niekun, of Sidney, Neb.; and three sisters, Mary Tait, Marian Tait, and Mrs. Elizabeth Jordan, all of Scotland.
Mr. Tait was a member of the Presbyterian church and had resided in Springfield for twelve years. He was born in Scot Haven, Scotlland, April 10, 1860, and was a stone mason by trade. His father was James Tait.
Remains were taken to Bisch Memorial home and will be taken overland Thursday morning to the Kirkpatrick funeral home, Pana, where funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at an hour to be announced later.
