"When her grandson Clarence Hovie had the tombstone made somehow he got the wrong year for her death. Family records show she died June 27, 1886 and this is confirmed by the Gibson Norwegian Lutheran Parish Jordfaestede (burials) record.
We also have noted in our Family Tree record a letter from her daughter written in 1913 lamenting that "father died at 68 and mother at 59" so 1886 should be the year on the tombstone."

Even though the stone has the name Karen on it, to our knowledge she never used that name on any of the documents in Norway or in the US.
