Raymond served as a Second Lieutenant & Co-Pilot on B-17G #42-38075, 331st Bomber Squadron, 94th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in St. Louis County, Missouri and was a member of the Missouri National Guard prior to the war.

His National Guard unit was called into full time active Army service on December 23, 1940, prior to the war, from St. Louis, Missouri. He was noted, at that time, as being employed as a welder and also as Married.

Raymond was "Killed In Action" when his B-17 collided with B-17G #42-31112 and crashed near Itzeho, Germany during the war.

He was awarded the Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters and the Purple Heart.

He was originally interred overseas and was later repatriated here.
