Leonard L Brunner, age 72, formerly of Whitelaw and Sheboygan, a current resident of Lakeland, Florida died Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2011, in Florida after complications of surgery.

Leonard was born March 17, 1939 in the town of Cato, son of the late Leonard and Dorothy (Denk) Brunner.
Leonard worked many jobs throughout his lifetime but mainly as an over the road semi truck driver. He was a very hardworking man which he learned at a very young age when he was given the responsibility of helping to raise his siblings due to the loss of their father.

Survivors include his wife Phyllis Brunner of Lakeland, FL. Two sons and one daughter, Tim (Sherrie) Brunner Boerne, TX, Chris (Amie) Brunner Dallas, TX, Lisa (Paul) Schermetzler Manitowoc. Grandchildren include a grandson Alec Schermetzler, a granddaughter Erin Schermetzler and step-grandchildren Charity (AJ) Bellile, Shayla Schermetzler and special friend Andrew Russell, Dean Roberts, Alexa and Camden Grabow, step great-grandaughter, Haylie Bellile. He is also survived by the children of his wife Pat (Rob) Thompson, OR, Kathy (Randy) Thompson, MN, Mike (Roni) Town, MN, Jackie (Cliff) Middleton, FL, Paul Town, MN. Also surviving is the mother of his children Gladys (Riesterer) Brunner, Manitowoc, four sisters and three brothers, MaryAnn (Hilary) Krueger, AK, Pat (Roger) Halverson, Manitowoc, Pamela O'Connor, WA, Barbara (Lee) Owart, Manitowoc , Ronald (Karen) Brunner, FL, Gerald (Mary) Brunner, Glenbeulah, Allen (Janice) Brunner, Manitowoc, one step-brother Jerry (Kathy) Reinke, MN, one step-sister Debbie (Terry) Mathiebe, Brillion, and many nieces and nephews. Lifelong friends Jerome "Sonny" and Mary Kohlbeck and Joseph "Gene" and Kathy Preston both of Whitelaw. He was preceded in death by one son, Neal Brunner, one nephew Rusty Halverson, his step-father Harvey Reinke, one step-sister Sandy Reinke, one step-grandson, Lee Brummet.

Dad will be brought back home for a memorial service at St. Mary's Church, Clarks Mills, at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 3, 2011. Officiating at the Memorial service will be the Rev. Dave Zimmerman. A burial service will be held at a later date with entombment at St. Mary's Cemetery, Clarks Mills.
