Leona F. Christianson

Leona F. Christianson, age 94, a longtime Valders resident, died peacefully early Monday morning, May 11, 2015 surrounded by her loving family at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.

Leona was born on November 30, 1920 in the Town of Cato, daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Kohlnhofer) Denk. On February 10, 1945 she married Leroy Christianson at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Clarks Mills. He preceded her in death on August 18, 2003. She worked hand in hand with her husband Leroy on the home farm. From an early age she worked for the Sister's Convent at St. Mary's Church, Clarks Mills, and continued to be a dedicated member of the parish. Leona was also a member of the Marion Council at her church and a former member of the Riverview Homemakers. She was a beautiful, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who said many Rosaries for each and every one of us. Leona enjoyed spending time with her family and never missed an occasion to send a card, and spent many hours baking and cooking for her family.

Survivors include four daughters and five sons-in-law: Jeanne and John Wilson, Manitowoc, Carol and James Fisher, OK, Charles Wendling, Collins, June and Paul LaCroix, Manitowoc, Shari and Daniel Carpenter, DePere; two sons and daughters-in-law: Roy and Julie Christianson, Darboy, Steven and Julie Christianson, TX; 15 grandchildren: Shea (Lauren) Fisher, Shannon (Doug) Wanek, Shawn (Scott) Litersky, Michele (Mike) Frozena, Kenneth II (Tammy) Lemberger, Mathew Lemberger, Troy Wendling, Craig (Shelly) Wendling, Brett (Keri) Wendling, Lindsay LaCroix, Sarah (Nick) Hanson, Nathan (Courtney) Christianson, Melissa (Chris) Broome, Justin Carpenter and Shana Carpenter and fiancé Brad; 32 great grandchildren. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was also preceded in death by two daughters: Darlene Christianson and Barbara Wendling; one grandson: Brian LaCroix; two granddaughters: Crystal Bradley and Jamie Lynn Fisher; three brothers and two sisters-in-law: Norbert Denk, Louis and Agnes Denk, Marcus and Viola Denk; three sisters and brothers-in-law: Dorothy and Harvey Reinke, Mathilda and Louis Pivonka, Anna and Nick Schuh; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Raymond and Anne Christianson and Wilfred and LaVerne Christianson.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, May 15, 2015 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Clarks Mills. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Richard Klingeisen with burial to follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Clarks Mills.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Friday, May 15, 2015 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Clarks Mills, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:15 a.m.
