Mary A. Kwitek

Mary A. Kwitek, age 100, formerly of Clarks Mills, died Tuesday morning, Aug. 4, 2009, at North Ridge Medical and Rehabilitation Center, where she had been a resident for the past seven years.

Mary was born June 9, 1909, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late John and Mary Bonin Piekarski. She grew up in Manitowoc and was a graduate of the Manitowoc Vocational School. On May 7, 1941, Mary was married to Martin E. Kwitek at St. Mary Catholic Church in Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on Feb. 14, 1979. Mary was a cosmetologist and co-owner of Martin's Beauty Salon in Manitowoc. The couple moved to Clarks Mills in 1965 and retired in 1969. She is a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Clarks Mills, St. Mary's Marian Council, and a former member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Manitowoc. Mary was extremely proud of her Polish heritage.

Survivors include one daughter: Mary Ann Krause, Sheboygan; one son and two daughters-in-law: John (Bonnie Sue) Kwitek, Bahamas; Margaret Kwitek, Maribel; 10 grandchildren: Patrick Krause; Michael (Joan) Krause; Sarah (Scott) Lackershire; Joseph (Candra) Krause; Kathleen Krause; John Christopher (Samantha) Kwitek; David (Laura) Kwitek; Alexander Kwitek; Matt (Sarah) Kwitek; Ben (Hannah) Kwitek; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law: Marge O'Neil, Del Ray Beach, Fla.; Alice Pekarske, Fond du Lac. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends survive. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Martin; one son: Martin John; one son-in-law: James Krause; two brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 10, 2009, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Clarks Mills. The Rev. David Zimmerman will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial with burial to follow in the parish cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11 a.m. The Jens Family Funeral Home & Crematory of Manitowoc is serving the family.
