Professional Basketball Player. Born John Howard Getty Johnson, he played small forward for four different teams in National Basketball Association from 1970 to 1982. He played collegiately at both Northwest College in Powell, Wyoming and the University of Iowa. He was selected 7th by the NBA's Cleveland Cavaliers in the 1970 NBA Draft and was the first Cavalier to play in the NBA All-Star Game, which he played in two years (1971, 1972). In 1973 he joined the Portland Trailblazers and then two years later became a member of the Houston Rockets, a team he played for until 1977. In 1977 he joined the Seattle SuperSonics and played for them until retiring in 1982. During his career he played for one NBA champion (1979 Seattle SuperSonics) and had 11,000 points, 4,778 rebounds, and 3,285 assists. His son Mitch played on the Stanford University basketball team from 2005 to 2008.
