She graduated from Marengo High School in 1941. Evaline served in the Navy (WAVES) from December 14, 1944 to May 15, 1946. She was sworn into the WAVES on radio station WHAS in Louisville, KY. Being the shortest person in her unit she was affectionately nicknamed "Jeep".
She married her love, Floyd Charles Phipps on July 30, 1948 in Charleston, IN. He preceded her in death October 26, 2007. Together they enjoyed traveling the United States in their Airstream and retired to the Tip O' Texas RV Resort thirty-five years ago. Evaline worked for Indiana Bell Telephone prior to her Navy service and afterwards until she retired.
She will be inurned beside her husband in Calvary Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.
