Karen Sue Poore passed away Jan. 6, 2016, in Gresham. She was born May 17, 1946, in Dumas, Texas, to Jesse L. and Ruth (Sweeney) Walling. She graduated from Gresham High School in 1964, and she then attended Portland Beauty Academy. Karen married the love of her life, Charles D. Poore June 10, 1967, at the Rockwood Christian Church. They were married until his passing Jan. 10, 1986. Karen enjoyed a long career as a beautician. She owned and operated several salons as well. In addition to her career, Karen enjoyed gardening, flowers, horses and in her younger years, her involvement in the 4-H program. She will always be remembered as being a wonderful mother and grandmother. Karen was preceded in passing by her husband, Charles D. Poore. She is survived by her children, Alice (Jacob) Ekwall, Angela Poore, Angel Schafer and Angels daughter, Abbie; brother, Mike Schafer; sister, Diana Glick and son, Mike Glick; and sister, Jesslyn Walling-Sundberg, son, Jesse Walling and his three children. A celebration of Karens life will be held at noon Sunday, Jan. 17, 2016, at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home in Gresham. Interment will take place in Willamette National Cem- etery.
