Donald D. Thone, age 84, of Clarks Mills, died Sunday morning, May 18, 2014 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center.

Don was born May 8, 1930 in Manitowoc, son of the late Raymond and Christina (Kresser) Thone. He was a graduate of Valders High School with the class of 1948. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On November 5, 1960 he married Elaine A. Franz at St. Mary Catholic Church in Manitowoc. She preceded him in death on February 20, 2004. He was employed as a Mason with Mike Wallander Construction, retiring from A.C.E. Building Service Inc. Don was a member of the Clarks Mills Sportsman Club, and the American Legion Thompson-Burdard Post #28, Valders. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, gardening and making firewood. Don loved playing sheepshead with his card clubs. He also enjoyed sports, especially the Packers and Brewers. Don was very proud of his seven grandchildren.

Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law: Pam and Dave Samsa, Suamico; Karen and Christopher Heili, Howards Grove; JoAnne and Patrick Dvorachek, Howards Grove; two sons: Steven Thone and Frank Thone, Clarks Mills; seven grandchildren: Adam (Jessica) Heili, Aimee (Adam) Zold, Austin Samsa, Taylor Samsa, Eric Dvorachek, Tyler Dvorachek, Bryce Dvorachek; one great grandson expected in August; two brothers: Raymond (Lorraine) Thone, Kenneth (MaryAnn) Thone, all of New Holstein; four sisters: Bertha Kulnick, Manitowoc; Margaret Wisnowski, Sun Praire; Audrey Leicht, Marlene (Leonard) Kohlmann, all of Manitowoc; and one brother-in-law: Joseph (Ruth) Franz, Manitowoc. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.

He was also preceded in death by his brother: Ralph Thone; sister: Betty Jane Thone, four brothers-in-law: Charles Kulnick, Ronald Wisnowski, Donald Leicht and Eugene (Betty) Franz and his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Joseph and Clara Franz.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 23, 2014 at Faith Lutheran Church in Valders. Officiating at the service will be Rev. Erica Cunningham. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Clarks Mills. Military Honors will be accorded by the American Legion-Drews Bleser Post #88, Manitowoc.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Thursday evening, May 22, 2014 at Faith Lutheran Church, Valders. Visitation will continue on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 am at church.
