(1931 - 2011)

John N. Wallander, age 80, formerly of Valders, currently a resident at Manitowoc Health & Rehabilitation Center, died Friday, July 22, 2011 at the Center.

John was born June 24, 1931 in Manitowoc County, son of the late Raymond and Clara (Vesely) Wallander. He graduated from Valders High School with the class of 1950. The mother of his children, Mary Ann (Roberts) Wallander, preceded him in death in 2001. He married Pamela Ebenhoe in 1994 and she preceded him in death in 1994. John was a life long member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Clarks Mills.

He is survived by seven children: Jeanne Wallander (William Todd), Holly Springs, NC; Larry Wallander, Manitowoc; Catherine (Dean) Kresge, Stoughton; Judy Wallander, Janesville; Laura (Jim) Sellmann, Saukville; Patricia Wallander, Janesville; Bonnie Wallander, Madison; seven grandchildren: Aaron Wallander, Lindsay (Jon) Hansen, Elizabeth Massman, Adam Massman, Patrick (Jackie) Kresge, David Kresge, Daniel Kresge; seven great grandchildren; three siblings: Donald (Elizabeth) Wallander, Kenneth (Charlotte) Wallander, and Diane (Henry) Behnke. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends and a good friend, Joe Backus also survive. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister-in-law; Raymond and Ellie Wallander, Allan Wallander; one sister: Janet Wallander; and one nephew: Greg Wallander.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Clarks Mills. Officiating at the service will be Rev. David Zimmerman with burial to follow at the church cemetery.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at Christianson & Deja Funeral Home, Valders, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. A prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m. led by Rev. David Zimmerman. Visitation will continue on Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Clarks Mills, from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
Memorials may be made to the Manitowoc Health & Rehabilitation Center.
