Charles C. Hall Passes; Promoted Shrine Circus

Charles C. Hall, 77, of 2700 East Ave., Brighton, on of the original members of the Shrine Circus Committee, died at 7:45 last night (December 9, 1953) in General Hospital.

Mr. Hall, who came here from Chicago in 1907, was a broker in dried and evaporated fruits for 46 years.

The Shrine Committee each year brings to Rochester a circus to raise funds for its charitable activities. In this work, Mr. Hall was for years associated with such noted circus people as Ella and Fred Bradna and Orrin Davenport.

Mr. Hall was deeply interested in all circuses and the persons who worked in the circuses. He seldom missed such a show in this area and he was known to hundreds of circus people throughout the country.

Mr. Hall was a member of Yonnondio Lodge, F&AM; Ionic Chapter, the Rochester Consistory, Damascus Temple of the Shrine, the Royal Jesters and Damascus Temple Patrol. He also was an honorary life member of the Rochester Lodge of Elks and the Locust Club and held membership in the Rochester Club.

Surviving Mr. Hall are his daughter, Mrs. Alvah G. Strong; a brother, Edward H. Hall of St. Petersburg, Fla.; four granddaughters, Mrs. John L. Wehle, Mrs. James F. Mangan, Mrs. Richard J. Garrett and Miss Sally Strong; seven great-grandsons, one great-granddaughter, two nieces and a nephew.

A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. tomorrow in the Third Presbyterian Church, East Avenue and Meigs Street. Burial will be in Oak Woods Cemetery, Chicago. In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to contribute to the Shrine Crippled Children's Hospital Fund.
