The Jefferson County Coroner ruled his death a homicide saying he died of a gunshot wound to the stomach. He was shot by New Albany, Ind. Police on Thursday when he reportedly charged at police armed with a weapon.
Born in Charleston, W.Va., August 13, 1952, he lived here one year.
Surviving are his wife, Debbie; a son, Jason; four brothers, John and Charles, both of Lorain, Roger, Charleston, W.Va., and Steven, South Carolina; three sisters, Mrs. Barbara Rupp, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Diane Gates, New Jersey, and Mrs. Tonia McNeely, Bell, W.Va.; his father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Church, Elyria; the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Church, Elkview, W.Va.
Services will be tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. in the Free Will Baptist Church, LaGrange. The Rev. Cecil Woods will officiate and burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery.
The Wainwright Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
