Ruth passed away peacefully on June 20, 2005 in Sacramento, CA. She was born April 21, 1922 in Crockett, Texas. Beloved mother of Joann (Joyce) Woods-Richardson and Sharon Woods-Taylor. Devoted grandmother of DeAnita Richardson-Brewster, and Evan Hakansson. Cherished great-grandmother of Brianna and Xavier Brewster. Preceded in death by husband Sampson Woods in 1971, and also leaves behind a host of loving relatives and friends. Ruth spent her life caring for and helping those around her. She worked in the health care field, operated a Board & Care Home for the elderly, was a notary, an Early Childhood Educator in public and private schools, and served many years as a community activist in the Oak Park and Meadow View areas. Visitation will be at Morgan and Jones Chapel of Chimes, 4200 Broadway from 3-7 PM on Thursday, June 30, 2005, (916) 452-4444. Funeral Service will be held 11 AM on Friday, July 1, 2005 at New Hope Baptist Church, 3700-32nd Street. Interment service will be immediately following the funeral at Monument Hill Memorial Park in Woodland, CA.
