A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 11, 1996, in the Montavilla Baptist Church for William Charles Schmid, who died April 8 at age 78.

Mr. Schmid was born Feb. 18, 1918, in Chicago. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He taught at David Douglas High School for 26 years and retired in 1983. He was a board member of Snowcap and International Student Ministries and a member of the church. He married Joan R. Cumming in 1946.

Surviving are his wife; daughters, Debby Fosmark and Susan Surface, both of Portland; sisters, Marilyn Schmid of Gresham and Lenore Reichard of Portland; and three grandchildren.

Private interment will be in Willamette National Cemetery. The family suggests remembrances to International Student Ministries in care of the church. Arrangements are by Lincoln Willamette Funeral Directors.
