Entertainer. Along with Ray Goulding, he formed the popular radio and television comedy duo "Bob and Ray." The pair became known for their quick and witty technique for improvisation. Born Robert Brackett Elliott, his father was an insurance salesman, Bob studied at the Feagin School of Drama and Radio, prior to serving with the United States Army with who he was stationed in Europe during World War II. Upon his return home, he landed a job on radio in Boston and met Ray Goulding which led to their first program titled "Matinee With Bob and Ray." After the pair's popularity began to grow, they were given their own one hour, Saturday night radio program with NBC in 1951. During the 1950s, they became a fixture on American television as they appeared on variety programs in addition to recording comedy albums. Bob and Ray appeared in the films "Cold Turkey" (1971) and "Author! Author!" (1981). They starred on Broadway in the stage production "Bob and Ray- The Two and Only" (1970 to 1971). After Ray's death in 1990, Bob continued to performed in the entertainment industry. He played 'Fred Peterson' in the TV series "Get a Life" (1990 to 1992), which starred his son, actor Chris Elliott. "Bob and Ray" were inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame in 1995.
