STREATOR — Rosemary Washko, 87, of Streator passed away Tuesday, Feb. 2, at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Care in Streator.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, at St. Michael the Archangel Parish Church in Streator. The Rev. Matthew DeBlock will officiate. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Solon-Telford Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be grandchildren, Lucas and Andrew Martin, John Washko and nephews, Chuck and Craig Surges and Dave Thompson.

Born Dec. 14, 1928, in Streator, she was the daughter of Herman and Eva (Cordell) Hiepler. She married Richard F. Washko, Nov. 12, 1949, at St. Anthony's Church in Streator. He preceded her in death on July 3, 1993.

She is survived by a daughter, Nancy (Phillip) Martin, of Stoughton, Wis.; a son, Greg (Jeanne) Washko, of Streator; grandchildren, Lucas Martin, Andrew Martin, John Washko, Jenna (Brian) Tritt and Janelle Washko; one sister, Mary Lorraine Surges, of Naperville; and her five great-granddogs that she so cherished.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Born and raised in Streator, she attended St. Anthony's Grade School and graduated from Streator Township High School.

She owned and operated Rosemary's Beauty Shop out of her home for over 50 years.

She was a member of the former St. Stephen's Church and most recently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Parish.

Rosemary was an avid Bridge player and belonged to several different Bridge clubs through the years. She also enjoyed baking cookies for Monday Bridge and loved reading.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association.
