Professional Football Player. For nine seasons (1959 to 1967), he played at the linebacker position in the National Football League with the San Francisco 49ers, Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers. Born Robert Lucius Harrison, Jr., he played football at Stamford High School in Texas and continued his athletics on the collegiate level at the University of Oklahoma. While with the Sooners, Harrison distinguished himself when he was named National Lineman of the Year in 1958 by the United Press International, in addition to achieving consensus All-American honors. Following service with the United States Army, he was selected by San Francisco during the 2nd round of the 1959 NFL Draft. He totaled 106 career regular season games and put together a consecutive game streak which spanned three seasons (1959 to 1961). After retiring from football, he worked as a farmer and served as a member of the Stamford, Texas City Council. In addition, he was a corrections officer in Stamford.
