She studied History at Somerville College, Oxford after receiving a scholarship and following graduation, she became a teacher at a girl's school in North London. In 1964, she initiated her writing career with the novel "Dame's Delight" and would go on to pen more than two dozen books. James Mason and Lynn Redgrave both earned Academy Award nominations for the film "Georgy Girl" (1966) and The Seekers achieved a number two placing on the Pop Charts with their song "Georgy Girl" (1966). Forster was married to writer Hunter Davies and died following a battle with cancer.
