She was born Aug. 10, 1918, in Alexandria, to William and Clista (Bollinger) Cornwell. Dessie was a homemaker all of her life, and previously worked at Fettig's Canning Factory. She married Joe E. Fisher on June 29, 1969.
She was a member of East Main Street Christian Church in Elwood and formerly the Elwood Eagles Lodge. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, and making delicious noodles.
Dessie's family includes daughter, Shirley (Don) Parrish of Frankton; son, Pat (Carolyn) Harvey of Sarasota, Fla.; five grandchildren, Stephanie (Ron) Buser of Anderson, Dana (Erin) Parrish of Anderson, Tina (Bruce) Weismiller of Elwood, Deon Ochoa of Elwood, and Desiree (Edward) Arenas of Marion; seven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Norman Harvey in 1968; second husband, Joe Fisher in 2010; daughter, Vanda Ochoa; grandson, Brad Parrish; and 13 siblings.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with the Rev. Roger Gardner of East Main Street Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Elwood.
Visitation will be from noon until 2 p.m. prior to the funeral on Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association.
