Geraldine Dorothy Wicker Tucker was born February 15, 1930, near Caulfield, MO, as the 7th child of the late Fred and Della Hardcastle Wicker. She passed away Monday, August 4, 2014 at the Missouri Baptist Medical Center. She married Clarence Earl Tucker on June 10, 1955, and to this union was born their son David Earl Tucker on January 30, 1962.

Though she attended school in the rural town of Bakersfield, MO, she graduated from MSU, Springfield, MO with a bachelor’s degree and from UMSL with a master’s degree as a reading specialist. She began her 39 year career in education as teacher in a one room school in Howell County, MO, then taught for 30 years at Bellereve Elementary in Creve Coeur. She loved her first and second graders to the point that she tutored many during the summer in her home. She was an excellent softball player as a young woman and delighted her little students by hitting home runs on skill days!!! Her love of learning led her to take instructions for using her computer, and she was quite proud of herself as an “80 year-old lady who can do just about anything on a computer!”

She gave her life to Christ and was baptized as a young woman at Bakersfield, MO, Baptist Church and was a faithful and generous member of Ballwin Baptist Church for 54 years.

Family was “Jerry’s” priority, and she wrote 2 books Mud Stockings and Burlap Boots about memories of her childhood growing up during the Depression in poverty-stricken southern Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her dear son David, her parents, and her siblings: Ruby, Rufus, Roy, infant brother, and Bill. She is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years Clarence Tucker, sister Ruth Mustion, and brother-in-law Charles Tucker. In addition 6 nieces and nephews (Idella Warden, Dan McHan, Debbie Yancey, Mike Mustion, Billy Wicker, and Deanna Noseff) plus numerous cousins and great nieces and nephews survive as her extended and loved family.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 7th, from 3-5 pm with services following at 5:00 pm under the direction of Schrader Funeral Home, Ballwin, MO. Interment will be next to her son, parents, brothers, and grandparents at Bly-Bigsprings Cemetery, Caulfield, MO, Friday, August 8th, 1:00 pm.
