Motion Picture and Television Screenwriter. Best known for penning stories for several of the popular British "Carry On" film series. Born into a Jewish family, his father was a tailor, Norman began his writing career as a reporter, prior to serving as a correspondent with the Royal Air Force during World War II. Following his return home, he landed a position as a film publicist and moved on to editing, and scriptwriting. By the mid 1950s, he had several film writing credits including "The Crooked Sky" (1957) and "Stranger in Town" (1957). Among the many "Carry On" films Hudis contributed to include "Carry on Sergeant" (1958), "Carry on Nurse" (1959) and "Carry on Teacher" (1959). During the 1960s, he worked almost exclusively in TV and penned stories for such popular British and American programs as "The Saint", "The Wild, Wild West", "Secret Agent", "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." and "Marcus Welby, M.D.". Hudis received an Edgar Allan Poe Award nomination for a 1977 episode of the series "Baretta" titled "Dear Tony".
