Anne Elder passed away peacefully at St. Agnes Medical Center on Friday, February 5, 2016. She was 96 years old.
Anne was born on August 23, 1919, in Fresno, CA, where she was raised on her family's farm on the corner of Dakota and First Street. She graduated from Clovis High School and moved to Oakland, CA, during World War II where she worked at the Oakland Naval Supply Center in support of the war effort.
She married Merlin Elder and raised their son, Keith, in Richmond, CA.
After retiring, she enjoyed bowling, camping, ceramics, and metal detecting with Merlin. In 1984, Anne and Merlin moved to Clovis, CA.
She loved activities involving her family, especially with her grandchildren, and great-grandchild.
Anne was very proud of her Armenian heritage and family.
She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Merlin Elder; father, Aram Khushigian; mother, Vera Khushigian; sister, Alice Cannon; and brother, Aram Khushigian.
She is survived by her son, Keith Elder and his wife Linda; grandchildren, Brian Elder and wife Julie, Kari Elder, and Amanda Elder; great-granddaughter, Kailey Elder; sisters, Grace McCaughan, and Mary Zimmer; and her nephews, neice, and their families.
The family would like to thank the staff at Clearview Retirement Home in Fresno; and a special thank you to her caregivers, Erwin and Fey Cadiz, who loved and cared for her.
Visitation will be held at the Boice Funeral Home on Friday, February 12, 2016, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Graveside Service will be held at the Clovis Cemetery on Saturday, February 13, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the American Heart Association .
