Theodore H. "Ted" Conrad, 89, Leavenworth, Kansas passed away Sunday, May 29, 2005 at Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. Ted was born January 31, 1916 in Leavenworth, Kansas the son of Carl Theodore Conrad and Hanna Wilhamina Vossmer Conrad. On June 21, 1941 in Leavenworth, he married Florence I. Atwell, they were married 63 years. She preceded him in death on December 17, 2004. He is also preceded in death by his daughter, Carol Lee Means, his parents and three brothers.
He is survived by 2 daughters, Alice Louise Conrad of Leavenworth, Kansas and Dorothy A. "Dot" Quebedeaux of Omaha, Nebraska; 1 son, Ted Conrad, Jr of Leavenworth, Kansas; 1 sister, Etta L. Breiner; 3 grandchildren: Shannon Wilcox, Wendy Anderson, and Cathy Cox.; 2 great grandchildren.
Ted worked for the Hercules Powder Plant, the Leavenworth Foundry and then for the Leavenworth Waterworks Department until he retired. He was a member of the Pilgrim United Church of Christ, Leavenworth. He loved his family and grandchildren, gardening, cooking and his work with the Pilgrim Church. Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Wednesday, June 1, 2005 at the Davis Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth, Kansas. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, June 2, 2005 at the Pilgrim United Church of Christ, Leavenworth, Kansas. Rev Dr. Elizabeth J. Nicks will officiate. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Pilgrim United Church of Christ.
