Margaret McLaughlin Goodnight, 89, of Mt. Ulla, passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2015, at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center.

She was born on August 3, 1925, in Mooresville, to the late Samuel Clarence and Sadie Stutts McLaughlin. Mrs. Goodnight was a graduate of Mt. Ulla High School. She was a homemaker but also worked part-time for Belk Department Stores in Customer Service. Mrs. Goodnight was a very active member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Mt. Ulla, where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, and especially enjoyed working at the annual barbeque.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Everette Goodnight, Jr. and a sister, Katherine West.

Margaret is survived by a daughter, Luellen Masingo and husband, Mike; and a granddaughter, Caitlyn McKenzie and husband, Luke.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 24, at 4:00 PM at Centenary United Methodist Church with Rev. Jack Luther officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:30 – 4:00 PM in the church parlor. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
