Irvin Charles Plouff,

Died February 23, 2016 at the Waukesha Springs Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was 95.

The son of Frederick and Sarah Plouff, Irv was born November 10, 1920 in Rhinelander, WI and graduated from Rhinelander High School in the Class of 1939.

He moved to Milwaukee in 1942 to seek a career and earn a livelihood. In 1944 he met the love of his life, Virginia Hoerig, on the dance floor at the Eagles Ballroom and they were later married July 17, 1946.

He was initially hired by Blatz Brewing Company as a draftsman. He took engineering classes in night school and soon advanced to an engineering position at Blatz, and subsequently Pabst Brewing Company, from which he retired 40 years later in 1982.

Throughout his life he was a devoted husband and father, a loving grandpa, an enthusiastic fisherman, an avid golfer and a master on the Weber charcoal grill. He was also a pioneer skier, and in his youth helped with development of the first rope tow in northern Wisconsin.

He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Virginia; daughters, Patricia Buck (David) of Hartland, WI and Jane Cordie (William) of Brookfield, WI; sons, Dennis Plouff (Barbara) of Baltimore, MD and Gary Plouff (Barbara) of Presque Isle, WI; a sister, Donna Salin of Hudson, WI; a brother-in-law, Harry Spitzer of Milwaukee, WI; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and close friends.

The family will welcome visitors at the Visitation at 10:30 AM followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM and a luncheon from 12:30 - 2:00 PM on Monday, February 29 at ST AGNES CATHOLIC CHURCH, 12801 W. Fairmont Ave., Butler, WI. Family and friends are also welcome at the burial ceremony at 2:30 PM at Holy Cross Cemetery, 7301 West Nash Street, Milwaukee, WI.
