Lance Corporal Andre E. Marcotte served with the 3rd Force Reconnaissance Company, part of the 3rd Recon Battalion, 3rd Marine Division.

On 29 June 1967, while his patrol was awaiting extraction from a pick-up zone on the southern edge of the Demilitarized Zone (about 7 kilometers south-southwest of Lang Cam village), a patrol member detonated a booby trap. Corporal David E. Boyer of Hellam, Pennsylvania, was killed out-right; LCpl Marcotte was wounded.

Marcotte was medevaced to the Naval Hospital at Danang, where he died on 01 July 1967.

He is buried with his parents, Edward H. and Amy S. Marcotte, in the Calvary Cemetery.
