George Byron Carter, a native of the west-side of Columbus, Ohio was born on September 6, 2015.

After high school, George served two tours of duties in the United States Navy. He was employed by the Columbus School Board for twenty years. George retired after 32 years of service from the City of Columbus as a Supervisor. George was a charter member of Second Community Church on Highland Avenue. In 2013, he began attending Mt. Hermon Missionary Baptist Church. He enjoyed traveling and living life to the fullest.

He entered into peaceful rest on Veteran's Day, November 11, 2015.

George was preceded in death by parents, William H. and Helen W. Carter, brothers-in-law, Sammie Lee and John l. Williams, and sister-in-law Leila E. Banks.

He leaves to cherish his memory, a faithful and loving wife of 28 years, Alice M. Carter; children, Ronda Carter, Gregory Carter, Eric Banks, James (Marsha) Packer, Cynthia (Tommy) Riley, Ashley (Lisa) Packer, III, Jacqueline (Michael) Claybrooks and Tonya Packer; grandchildren, Adam and Alyssa Banks, Gregory B. and Randi L. Carter, Sa’mone Carter-Gilbert, Ryion M. Gilbert, Mathew, Marscilla, Erica, Jatana, Terrel, Catherine, Ariel, and Adrienne Packer, Byron Smith, and Brittney Smith-Moore; loving aunt Mary Glasgow; devoted niece; Aletha McLaurin; cousin; Earl (Joan) Potts; sisters-in-law; Geneva Barrett and Marjorie (Bill) Gleason; brother-in-law Robert (Michele) Williams; extended family and close friends, Phyllis Brock, Garnet Ross, and Ashley Packer, Jr.; many great grandchildren, cousins, other relatives and friends.
