RONALD A. "COACH" BLOMBERG

Ronald Allen Blomberg passed away on Monday December 7, 2015 at age 87 years. He was born on December 17, 1927 in Kenosha, Wisconsin to Carl and Sadie Blomberg.


Ron grew up in Prentice and northern Wisconsin. After playing basketball and graduating from the University of Wisconsin, he took his first teaching job at Peshtigo High School. In 1955, the family moved to Brookfield where he taught physical education, coached many sports, and started a basketball camp program. He won five conference basketball championships. In 1966, he became the basketball coach and athletic director at Wayland Academy in Beaver Dam, WI. After four years, he joined the Milwaukee Bucks organization where he continued his camps as the Milwaukee Bucks Basketball Camps.


He became known as the "Old Professor" on the television broadcasts of the Bucks games. He was a part of the broadcast team of WI Badger Basketball games for 17 years. Ron became the Assistant General Manager of the Bucks. He was inducted into the Wisconsin Coaches Hall of Fame in 1980, and recently into the Brookfield Central High School Hall of Fame in May 2015. He touched so many lives and many hearts, and will be missed by all who knew him.


He is preceded in death by his loving wife, La Verne, and two sons, Douglas and David. He is survived by a son, Steve (Jeanne) and daughters, Chris (Bob), and Barb (Bob); nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.


A visitation will be held on Monday, December 28th from 4:00 PM until the time of a service at 7:00 PM at CHURCH AND CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME 1875 North Calhoun Road Brookfield. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Brookfield Central H.S. booster club appreciated.
