Funeral services for Cogle E. Bailey, 82, of the New Hope Community of Bluefield, who died in a Bluefield hospital Monday afternoon from an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound, will be conducted Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory with Rev. Allen Ridenour and Rev. Mrs. Ruth Young officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens on the Bluefield-Princeton Road. He was born in Bluefield, a son of the late Albert E. and Mary Ellen Calfee Bailey. He was a retired employee of the Department of Highways. He is survived by his widow, Mary Jane Bailey [1901-1984]; one son, Carroll Bailey of Greenup, Ky.; one daughter, Mrs. Hayse (Janet) Riggleman of Beverly, WV; three sisters, Mrs. Winnie Bailey, Mrs. Maude Pruett and Mrs. Jesse P. Bailey, all of Bluefield; two grandchildren. Friends may call today at the funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m.
