My mother-in-law.

Avelda Ruth -- nicknamed "Dolly" due to her doll-like beauty -- Johnson was the eighth of ten children born to Marcus Benjamin and Floy Penhollow Johnson of Perry, Ohio.

She grew up in Perry a cheerful, industrious, talented, athletic child, and blossomed into a cheerful, industrious, talented, athletic young woman. At the age of 19 she left home to attend Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio, from which she would eventually earn a Bachelor of Science in Education.

It was at BGSU, while working in the cafeteria, that she met Stanley Weber, a tall, handsome basketball player attending college on the GI Bill. He was instantly smitten. The feeling was mutual.

Stanley and Dolly were married on August 22, 1948, in Perry. Their 62-year union produced three devoted children, all of whom survive her: Greg (Jennifer) Weber of Columbia, SC; Ron (Marcia) Weber of Temperance, MI; and Ruth (John) Klempner of Edon, OH.

In addition, her passing is mourned by 13 grandchildren: Angie (Steve) Hobbins, Dan (Chelsey) Weber, David (Sandra) Weber, Julia (Joe) Hagans, Todd (Jaclynn) Weber, Stephanie (Joel) Bixler, Johnathan Klempner, Audrey Weber, Joanna Klempner, Justin (Ashlee) Klempner, Erica Weber, Andrew Weber, and Roxy Klempner.

There are 24 great-grandchildren, all of whom were precious to her.

She is also survived by five of her nine siblings: Ben (Sarah) Johnson, Vaughn "Dutch" (Marilyn) Johnson, Jessie Sabo, Neva (Gerald) Sims, and Chuck (Nancy) Johnson.

In addition to her parents, whose memory she cherished, and her beloved Stanley, Dolly was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters: Victor Johnson, Dale Johnson, Lois Kacur, and Vera "Bunnie" Johnson.

She was an accomplished and prolific seamstress whose skill with a needle was well known throughout the community. It was her trademark to labor quietly in the background, never seeking recognition, always serving others, doing small things in a big way. For these and many other qualities, she will be remembered as a great lady.

Dolly trusted Christ as an adult and lived the remainder of her life a dedicated servant of her Savior. She was a member of Lewis Avenue Baptist Church, Temperance, MI, for nearly thirty years. Her testimony of faith in the One Who saved her soul is the reason we know she is in Heaven today, and that we will soon see her again.

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

Revelation 21:4

=0=0=0=

May the good Lord bless and keep you
Whether near or far away
May you find that long-awaited
Golden day, today

May your troubles all be small ones
And your fortunes ten times ten
May the good Lord bless and keep you
Till we meet again

May you walk with sunlight shining
And a bluebird in every tree
May there be a silver lining
Back of every cloud you see

May you dream of sweet tomorrows
Never mind what might have been
May the good Lord bless and keep you
Till we meet again.
