Barbara Lynne Parker, age 66, 5 Grotto Drive, Danville and formerly of Bloomsburg, died at 5:10 p. m. Friday, March 4, 2016, at the Geisinger Columbia Montour Hospice at Maria Hall, Danville, after a long battle with cancer. She was a patient there for five days.

Born in Bloomsburg on June 5, 1949, she was a daughter of Patricia "Pat" (Moyer) Parker, with whom she resided in Danville and the late Edmund L. Parker. She resided in Bloomsburg nearly her entire life, moving to The Meadows in 2011 following the devastation of her home during Tropical Storm Lee.

Barbara was a 1967 graduate of Bloomsburg High School and began working for the former Acme Market in Bloomsburg immediately following graduation. She worked there for many years before being employed by the Kawneer, Corp. More recently she was employed at the former Agway Store on 10th Street, Bloomsburg where she was in charge of the garden center.

She loved gardening, and was often seen working in her beautifully landscaped yard, as long as it was not a NASCAR race day. She also was a longtime volunteer at the Columbia County Historical and Genealogical Society, working in the museum.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, James W. Longenberger, on June 3, 2008 and by her brother, William Vance Parker on January, 10, 2011.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by a sister, Pamela J., wife of Timothy Holmes, Bloomsburg.

At her request, she will be cremated, and there will be no public services.
