James Otto Glatting, age 86, of Oshkosh, Wisconsin was born to eternal life on Saturday March 5, 2016. He was born on December 22, 1929 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the son of Otto Jacob Glatting and Lillian (Rajec) Glatting. Jim was raised in Milwaukee and graduated from West Division High School. He earned a bachelor's degree in Secondary Education from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. He later earned a Master's Degree in Public School Administration from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. Jim served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, while stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington, where he met the love of his life, Betty Leona Chase, at a USO dance. Jim and Betty were married on September 11, 1954 at Fort Lewis, Washington and moved to Milwaukee in 1955 where Jim began a career with the Milwaukee Public School District at Riverside High School, teaching mathematics and science, and coaching athletics. Jim later was an administrator at James Madison High School, and retired in 1984. Jim and Betty raised three sons: Gary Gene, Dean Greg, and James Craig. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Otto Jacob Glatting (1897-1950) and Lillian (1897-1974) Glatting. Jim is also preceded in death by his only sister Carol Jean, in 1934 at age 7. He is also preceded in death by a step-father Herman "Herm" Seer. Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Betty L. (Chase) Glatting of Oshkosh, WI; son, Gary (Judy Masterson) Glatting of Phoenix, AZ, together with their children: Alaina (Tyler) Krone of Tucson, AZ; Ashley Glatting of San Diego, CA; Gavin Glatting of Tucson, AZ; and Jake Glatting of Tucson, AZ; son Dean (Betty J. Pagel) Glatting of Oshkosh, WI, together with their children: Brittany Glatting of Memphis, TN; and Kaylee Glatting of La Crosse, WI; son, James "Jimmy" C. Glatting of Milwaukee, WI, along with his children: Erika Jo Beans-Glatting of Milwaukee, WI and Christian Cooper-Glatting of Richmond, VA. Visitation for Jim will held on Monday March 14, 2016 from 10-11:30AM with a Memorial Service immediately following. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Milwaukee.
