Swedish princess. She belonged to the Vasa Dynasty as the only daughter of King Eric XIV. She was born before his marriage to a lady-in-waiting with whom he already had two children before any wedding took place. When her mother was crowned Queen Catherine in 1568, she and her brother were legitimized and became full-fledged Swedish royalty, but this step on the part of her father made her uncles take the opportunity to rise against him and led to his downfall. The family was first imprisoned together, where two more brothers were born, but soon her father was separated from them and her mother took her surviving son and daughter with her to eastern Sweden, i.e. Finland. After the death of her incarcerated father in 1577 and her brother's exile, she lived with her mother at their Liuksala Manor in Finland. She went to Poland employed by her cousin Princess Anne and witnessed the coronation there of Anne's brother Sigmund. In 1582 she joined her mother in Stockholm to discuss her future, among other issues, at the notable Meeting of Three Queens Catherine, besides her mother also sitting Queen Catherine, consort of King John III, and dowager Queen Catherine, widow of King Gustav I. She was allowed to marry Finnish nobleman Henry Tott, with whom she had three children, and after his death she lived in Sweden again, married to Swedish nobleman Nels Nelson (Natt och Dag). They had no children and after he also died she lived unmarried in Finland for another 20 years and was buried in her first husband's family grave. During her marriage to him she had spent several years in Latvia due to political-religious turmoil. She can be considered the least tragic person in the drama surrounding her parents.
