Born August 15, 1880 in Indiana, her parents being Montgomery Groenendyke and Emma Lanich/Groenendyke.

Bessie died on June 18, 1955 in Birmingham, Alabama.

She was buried on June 21, 1955 next to her husband, Wakeman Stewart, who had died less than a year earlier; as per records at Elmwood.

We learn from Miss Ellen Groenendyke that the home of her sister, Mrs. Bessie Groenendyke Stewart, is in mourning on account of the death of an only son.
