Congressional Medal of Honor recipient. James McNally served in the 3rd and the 8th US Cavalry from 18581883. Wounded during the Civil War battle of Valverde, February 21, 1862. After his final discharge, McNally lived in Hatch, Hillsboro, and Kingston New Mexico where he worked several mining claims. He died in Kingtson New Mexico on November 26, 1904. First Sergeant James McNally was presented the nation's highest award for valor, the Medal of Honor, for his bravery in scouts and actions against the Indians in 1868 and 1869. (bio by: Athanatos )
