Immigration: Dec. 23, 1870 on SS Rhine to New York Mathias Kopet was born in Bohemia in 1836. In 1864, he married Terezye Sihi. They had two sons, Thomas and Wencel. They decided to make the trip to the United States, and departed from Bremen Germany aboard the Steam Ship Rhine. They arrived in New York on December 23, 1870. Thomas was 7 years old and Wencel was only 6 months.
They settled in Montgomery, Minnesota and farmed. They had two more children, Eva and John. Terezye's son from a prior marriage, Frank Stanek and Mathias' older brother, Wencel Kopet lived with them also.
On December 21, 1886, Theresa passed away, About 1887, Mathias married Katerina Rozina. She died in 1899. That same year, Mathias married Josephine Pechota, his son John's wife. John had passed away in 1895.
Mathias died on October 12, 1912, in Montgomery, Minnesota.
