Arthur John Cornwell, 25, formerly of Athens, died at his home in Vienna, Austria, on Monday, May 19, 2008.

Art was born in Athens on March 13, 1983, and is survived by his parents, Brian and Connie Cornwell; and a brother, Eric Cornwell, all of Athens; his aunts and uncles, Michael Cornwell and SherriJo St. John of Skokie, Ill., Amy and David Calvert of Lewis Center, Kendrick and Donna Bisset of Louisville, Ky., and Ian Shepherd of Stroudsburg, Pa.; and his special friends, Martin Mayer and Alexa Langhans of Austria; and Kelli Chapman of Athens/Cincinnati.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Janice Cornwell of Athens and John and Janet Shepherd of Mountainhome, Pa.

Art was a 2001 graduate of Athens High School and, after his 2005 graduation from Ohio University, he accepted a Fulbright commission teaching English in Eisenstadt, Austria. At the time of his death, he was attending graduate school at Webster University of Vienna.

There will be an informal celebration of his life on Saturday, 3 p.m., at Shelter House 3, near the beach at Strouds Run State Park.

A memorial service will be held in Austria next Friday, at Zentralfriedhof Halle 1, 2. Tor Simmeringer Hauptstrasse 234 1110 Vienna.
