Actor. He received notoriety as an American actor, mainly performing successfully on television. Born Peter Lynn DeLapp, he will best be remembered for his role as the young Deputy Johnny McKay in the western television series "Lawman" from 1958 through 1962. While serving in the United States Army stationed in Alaska, he began writing, directing and acting in plays to entertain the other troops. After his discharge, he studied drama at the University of California at Los Angeles and soon was appearing in local theater. While working part-time at a gas station, he had a chance encounter with Jack L. Warner, who offered Brown a screen test , which led to a contract at Warner Bros. Brown had small roles in such films as "Too Much, Too Soon," "Darby's Rangers," "Onionhead," and "Marjorie Morningstar" all in 1958 and "The Young Philadelphians" 1959 before landing his television role on "Lawman." Brown later signed with Universal Studios and made three films in 1964: "A Tiger Walks." "Kitten With a Whip" and "Ride the Wild Surf." He also appeared in such films as "Summer Magic" in 1963, "Chrome and Hot Leather" in 1971, "Piranha" in 1972, "The Messenger" in 1986 and "The Wedding Planner" in 2001. Among other television shows, he appeared in guest roles in "Laredo", "Wagon Train," "The Virginian," "Mission: Impossible," "The Bob Newhart Show," Police Woman," "Dallas," "Knight Rider" and "JAG."
