Mr. Richard Sheahan, the husband of Winifred “Peg” Sheahan, passed away peacefully at the age of 101 in Wheatridge, Colorado on Sunday, March 20, 2016.

Mr. Sheahan was born in Rawlins and attended Rawlins high school, graduating in 1931, and then attended the University of Wyoming. He was inducted into the US Army in 1942 and served in the 79th Division in the European theater of war under General George Patton. After the war, he returned to Rawlins and owned and operated a flower and china shop for the next five years.

Following his tenure there, he worked as a realtor in Denver, then moved to Colorado Springs and opened a camera shop in the Antlers Hotel. From there, he moved to Torrington, Wyoming to manage a farm and ranch for Peg’s aunt. He decided to retire in Denver, where he enjoyed golfing well into his 90s.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Peg, as well as his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James A. Sheahan of Rawlins. He is survived by his daughter, Dawn Miller, two grandchildren, Robin Barnard and Doran Miller; four great grandchildren, DJ, Kyle and Ryan Miller and Colin Barnard; by a nephew, John “Jack” Wilk of Littleton, Colorado, and nieces Coralyn Land of Port Orchard, Washington and Theodora Wreschner of Chandler, Arizona. He is also remembered by niece Peggy Coen, nephews Rick, Paul and Howard Prouty of Colorado, by numerous great nieces and nephews, as well as great, great nieces and nephews.
