The son of Alfred Croteau and Lucienne Hémond, Father Daniel Croteau was born in Black Lake ordained priest on April 9, 1955 by Msgr. Georges Cabana for the Archdiocese of Sherbrooke. Assigned to the teaching staff of the Seminary of Sherbrooke that same year, as of 1957 he went on the serve as notary, archivist and librarian at the Archbishopric. Redactor of the "Le Messager St-Michel" diocesan review between 1959 and 1962, in the latter year he served briefly as chaplain and professor at the Collège du Sacré-Cœur of Sherbrooke, before heading to the University of Sherbrooke serving various offices including those of librarian (1962-1971); secretary general (1971-1976); director of the pavillon univestrie (1976-1978); director of relations (1978-1981); and spiritual director to border students. Parish priest of the Précieux-Sang parish of 785, rue Thibault, Sherbrooke for 28 years, between 1981 and 1999 and successively its administrator from 1999 until 2008, Father Daniel passed away on Friday, January 15, 2016 aged 84 at the CHUS, Pavillon Bowen, Hôtel-Dieu. His funeral Mass was celebrated at the Cathedral Basilica of St-Michel, 130, rue de la Cathédrale, Sherbrooke, on Saturday, January 30 at 11 hrs., followed by interment at the Cimetière St-Michel.
