Luther Albert Zirschky (know by his middle name, Albert) was the son of William and Minerva Tate Zirschky. He grew up in the Huggins area and lived there his entire life. He attended school at Logan, a one room school about a mile from his boyhood home. (He may have also attended Zirschky School, we have no records of the years it was active before it burned down.)
He married Ruth Anvaleen Ellis, on November 19, 1911. Albert and Ruth made their home just down the road from his parents farm where he was raised.
Albert was a farmer. He was a member of the Woodsman Lodge and was active in the community and school. Albert and Ruth attended Rock Springs Church.
One day while tending his farm with his oldest son Howard, Albert jumped across a small stream. Howard recalled his dad feeling a lot of pain after jumping the stream and wondering if something had torn inside him when he landed. Albert was in constant pain after that day. According to the story told by the family he was ill for quite sometime before he passed away, we don't know now if that was a couple of years or several months.
His death certificate gives the cause of death as cirrhosis of the liver, from the stories we were told it seems his death was probably caused by cancer that metastasized in the liver. Howard did tell us that he knew his dad was passing blood through his kidneys before he died. He most likely had cancer and that is what actually caused the pain when he jumped the stream.
Albert was very loved and missed by his family and friends. His children always remembered him as a kind and caring man.
