Vernon graduated from Peshtigo High School in 1953.
On November 20, 1954, he married Margaret "Peggy" Stewart at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Marinette, WI.
Vernon was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church. He began work with his Uncle Henry Schroeder building feed mills until 1958 and then went to Thompson Boat where he worked until 1962.
In 1960 he founded Schroeder Construction Co., a family business, from which he retired in 2006. After his retirement he enjoyed woodworking projects in his shop. Married to the love of his life, Peg, for 61 years, they spent time traveling and visiting with his children and grandchildren. Vernon also liked playing cards with family and friends, and he was a die-hard Packer fan.
Vernon is survived by two daughters: Cynthia (Juan) Agueros and Amy Jo (Curt) Campbell;
two sons: Vernon Jr. (Julie) and Randy (Tatem);
a brother, Carl (Louise) Schroeder;
three sisters: Arlene Rocheleau, Lorraine Crozier and Jean (Martin) Vieth;
his grandchildren: Josh (Maria) Hegemann, Clay (Jennifer) Hegemann, Jamie (Craig) Molitor, Heather (Jake) Spencer, Alissa Schroeder, Lee Schroeder, Elizabeth DeRuyter, Samantha, Randy II, Delanie, and Presley Schroeder,
great-grandchildren: Jordyn Walters, Tyler Teske, Cody Raygo, Henry and Milo Hegemann; Emma Grace Molitor; and Mason Spencer.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 7, at Harmony United Methodist Church from 1 p.m. until time of services at 4 p.m. with Pastor Kevin Deminski officiating.
Entombment will be in Glenwood Memorial Garden in Marinette.
