Russell Barnard Cassara, 85, of Corpus Christi, Texas died from complications of Alzheimer on Friday, October 6, 2006. He was born on December 7, 1920 in Rochester, New York.

He was preceded in death by his parents Salvatrice and Joseph Cassara, Italian immigrants, his wife of fifty-five years Katherine, his sisters Anna, Josephine, Sally, Rose, Verna, Marie, and brother Bernard.

He is survived by his three loving daughters: Dorothy Chenevert of Houston, Texas, Nancy Putman and husband, Tom, of Scottsdale, Az. and Mary Jo Cassara of Gunter, Texas; four grandchildren, Kevin Chenevert and his wife Lisa, Kent Chenevert and his wife Debbie, Thomas Putman III, and Kristy Putman, three nephews, Roger Manuse, Gary Manuse, Kenny Cannarozzo, five nieces, Ann Paulson, Mary Theresa Mancuso, Patti Lanzillo, Gail Hudson and Janice Menton and eleven great nephews and nieces.

Russell moved his family to Corpus Christi, Texas in 1954. He worked for Sears for 31 years and received several Outstanding Salesman Awards for the Region. Russell was a building contractor and owner of Style House Construction and an adjuster for Allstate Insurance. He was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and a life member of Council 1202 at St. Patrick's Church. He was a member of Paisanos, did volunteer work for St. Patrick's, for IWA, St. Vincent de Paul, Poor Clare nuns, Special Olympics, and the Corpus Christi Mental Health and Mental Retardation Association and received awards for outstanding service. He was an avid city, state and K of C bowler, and he loved the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Astros. Family was always his first priority, and he bragged to everyone he was so glad he had three girls. Russell touched the lives of many people, always giving a helping hand.

A Rosary was recited October 8, at Maxwell P. Dunne Funeral Home. A funeral service was celebrated October 9 at St. Patrick Catholic Church.

Entombment followed at Seaside Memorial Park.
